Our History

Descended from a traditional Bengali agricultural caste, the Kapalis—later identifying as Baishya Kapalis—developed a legacy of jute cultivation and rope-making. By the mid‑20th century, many gained prosperity through farming and business. Though evolving identity practices remain debated, the community has solidified an urban and rural presence across Hindu Bengal and Bangladesh Wikipedia.

Community Identity

Rooted in Vaishnavism today—with ancestral ties to Shaivism and Buddhism—and traditionally organized into gotra‑based lineages, our Samaj remains committed to its cultural and religious ethos.
